I utterly Hated it myself. You are the first metal head I have seen that hatted it. I absolutely loved it, even though it had be strapped in my seat I couldn't move with the tension. It was very unconventional and really split people down the middle. You either understood it, or were dissapointed that it didn't have a Hollywood ending. I actually was VERY disappointed with this movie....I was a VERY big supporter of the film til I saw it. I saw it the midnight before it came out with like 20 people....I was the only person to HATE IT... My reasons: 1. IT'S A TOTAL YOUTUBE MOVIE!!! 2. The plot (really lack thereof) was not interesting at all 3. It was totally banking on peoples emotions of the 9/11 attacks here 4. They didn't require any actual thought process to watch the movie. It's all just straight forward.

'New Age Bible Versions' by Gail Riplinger (Its really, REALLY bad, but its the most popular KJV-only book out there so I figure I'm sort of obligated to read it) 'Serious Omissions in the NIV' by some guy. We got three of them in on Saturday so I bought one. 'The Same Sex Controversy' by James White et al.

recent purchases
the last man on earth (though i already have a DVD copy i needed a new one....this movie is much better than it's recent remake I Am Legend...which i utterly hated as well ROFL)
red dawn (collectors set.)
Star Trek movies 1 - 8 (because George Lucas killed the Star Wars movies for me when he made the prequels and added the prequel characters to the re-released versions of the DVD's)
C.H.U.D. - campy B horror movie form the 80's with Daniel Stern (from home alone/wodner years)
Turok: son of stone (based on the comic book)
3:10 to Yuma (the original version which is just awesome...please stay away from the typical crap hollywood remake of this movie, it's not worth the money to see)

C.H.U.D. - campy B horror movie form the 80's with Daniel Stern (from home alone/wodner years) C.H.U.D: not to be mistaken with the drummers of the same name. And if anybody other than Todd gets this reference without actually looking it up, I'll buy them an ice-cream. I'm actually working on getting the Star Trek movies that I don't have. I bought the first one the other day, but I've already got 2, 4, 6, 7, plus the 1st season of TNG

1. I didn't really care about the way it looked because I used to be a videographer myself so I appreciate how the film looks because it's so different and if a video can be shot like that and be successful, it can be an inspiration to a whole new set of directors from the next generation making great movies. 2. I LOVE Godzilla. So the Godzilla plot totally appealed to me. In fact, J.J. Abrahms in the interviews on the dvd cites that Godzilla was his total inpiration for that film. Over in Japan Godzilla is still a big deal, it's just a part of the culture there. He wanted to make something that would hopefully become a part of the culture here. 3. 9/11 was the very last thing in my mind while i was watching it. In Abrahms interviews he doesn't ever mention anything about alluding to 9/11 on purpose. That was never his intention. He wanted to make an awesome monster movie, which he did. 4. Who cares if it's straight-forward and you can just be entertained? Not every movie needs to have such a complicated an engrossed plot that forces you to watch it 8 times before you understand it. If you think about it, the movie is trying to place you in the position of those people, being with them and experiencing what they experience. If that were to happen to YOU, you'd know only as much as they did. And you know, there's nothing wrong with a good action-packed saturday matinée thriller. And seriously. That creature is totally CTHULHU and everyone knows it! For me, that makes it ten pounds of awesome. (and to continue the thread, i recently purchased a PS2, two controllers, 2 ps2 memory cards, 1 ps1 memory card, and 7 games for like 75 bucks!)

Actually, there is a lot more to that movie than most realised, unless they had been following the hype. You leave the cinema knowing nothing more about the monster or where it came form, than when you first went in. There are so many little hints throughout the movie. What was the company the main guy was going to work for's role in this? Where did the Monster come from? What is that which crashes into the sea in the very last scene? How did the monster survive the bombing at the end? (the whispering/radio when the screen goes black is backwards. IF played forwards it says "its still alive") etc You could watch it hundreds of times, and do tons of research and still never work it all out. Oh, if you sat at the front on the cinema, it was awful do to the way i was filmed. You needed to sit up the back.
