Firethrone-Day of Darkness and Blackness Released-2006 Label-Son of Man Records Style-Raw Black Metal I was kind of apprehensive when I heard the title of this album and I expected to hear something completely horrible. Luckily I was dead wrong about this release and am very glad I obtained a copy of it. Firethrone plays very raw black metal or unblack(depending on how you swing). For the most part you get a blistering assault of tremolo picking and blasting drums with some slower more mid paced sections thrown in for variation. What I found great about these nine songs is how they all sound different enough to be memorable, not a common practice in this kind of music. This makes for an enjoyable listen as it does not just drone on like one long song. The vocals are enjoyable for the most part, being high pitched black shrieks. The drumming is well done with lots of blast beats. Theres a little too much cymbal though. In between tracks there are various clips of clanging noises and people screaming. Unfortunately there were no lyrics included with my copy of the CD so I can make no comments on the lyrical content. The production quality was actually much higher than I had expected but to be fair its still pretty thin. Overall this 22 minute CD is really a bargain if you can find it anywhere as it was an extremely limited release. Highly recommended for fans of Horde or Elgibbor. Reviewed by Dan

Interesting. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
