Nodes of Ranvier-Lost Senses, More Innocence Released-2002 Label-Facedown Records Style-Hardcore/Metalcore This was actually the first Nodes CD I had every heard. My friend Buddy raved on and on about this band ever since the day he found them on Godcore.com(RIP). I honestly never paid enough attention as I was just getting into death and black metal at the time. Here I am six years later just getting into the Nodes discography. The music on this their debut release is not so different from the Self Titled album that came out a year later. Nodes plays technical, brutal, and melodic metalcore. Generic is a word you cannot use in the same sentence with Nodes. Brutal and melodic riffs are coupled with hints of technical chaos. The guitarwork is of very high quality for a metalcore band. The vocals are my favorite part as they are deep and growly, with some high pitched shreiking and some spoken word sections. Lyrically Nodes was the most upfront about their faith on this record and had a lot of good things to say about innocence, salvation, and Christ. This is a highly recommended release along side Nodes' self titled album. Although if you have to pick one pick the self titled as the song writing was a tad more interesting on that record. Standout Tracks: Horizen, Adam, and Soiled Rags. Reviewed by Dan
