yeah, I can't really stand Mark Hamil that much either, especially since all he seems to do is ride the coat tails of these movies, instead of like, you know... moving on, like Harrison Ford did, but for me, the prequals just ruin everything they set-up in the originals (midichlorians anybody?)... plus no matter how bad the dialogue in the originals was, it will never be as corny or hammed as "NOOOOOOO!!!"

I liked Revenge of the Sith, but yeah the originals were 10x better. Not that RotS was bad, but rather the original star wars movies are absolute movie masterpieces whether you like sci-fi or not.

I dont think Mark Hamil is riding the coat tails of Star Wars. He's done alot since then you just dont physically see him. He does a good deal of voice acting. In case you never knew this he played the Green Goblin in the animated Spiderman show and he played the Joker in the Batman animtated series. He also starred in an acting role in the Wing Commander series of games(granted he still played a star pilot but that game is nothing like star wars). He has even done voices on the cartoon Metalocalypse.

I reckon the prequels are the most mis-understood films of all time.
Episode I is really hated so much because people don't like having their mythology and childhood dreams explained to them ie. there's no Santa Claus; it's really your dad etc.
It's science fiction but the "old film supremacy" crowd find no interest in the science.
It makes me laugh how people raved about the effects in the new films even though they are not any more realistic than the old "death star made of ping-pong tables..."
To me, the films in order I - VI depict a fantastic tale of an evolving universe. What begins in simplistic beauty and full knowledge deteriorates into mass-produced ugliness and different versions of the truth.
I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favourite film. None of the new films have managed to match the beauty of "The Empire Strikes Back," and for that reason alone it's my choice. Fantastic cinematography and a beautifully haunting feel. Amazing backdrops and great battles; a better insight into the characters and a story that draws you in. It's got everything in spades.

I think that he's also done voice acting for a couple of LucasArts or Sierra games, but I could be wrong. Plus he had a bit part in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back a handful of years ago. I just couldn't resist the cheap shot...

Jar Jar Binks is the Phantom Menace, he was the one who suggested to the Senate to grant the Chancellor emergency powers. He ruined everything not only in their galaxy, but ours too.
Episode IV = 8/10 Episode V = 10/10 Episode VI = 6/10 Episode I = 5/10 Episode II = 4/10 Episode III = 7/10

Many people hated C-3PO and R2-D2 when the original films were new... time changes things. But for kids who were growing up with the "new" films, Jar Jar is a favourite. Can't stand him myself

'Tis true. We're all getting older. I'm thinking about passing on the Star Wars experience onto my daughter sometime in the next couple of years (she's four right now). WIll stick with the original trilogy, though -Revenge of the Sith is just a little dark! It's on telly tomorrow night, though, on Channel 10.
I did get to dress up as a trooper when Sith was in the cinemas, which was lots of fun.
