I fearlessly ventured back to Firestream today for the first time in a while, when I saw the current topic of discussion in the Theology forum is 'Why can't all Christians just submit to the authority of the Pope?' (or something along those lines) and then I remembered why I left there in the first place... Oh man, if the Trinity thread hadn't gotten me banned, that one certainly would have P.S. I posted this in the spam thread coz I wanted to post it and couldn't decide where, so I figured the spam thread was a nice safe choice.

Meh, just go to the important forums . . . . like Transifugural Form, Promise Land, Feast Eternal, Mortification, Once Dead, Ultimatum and Blood Drift. All the rest of them are just additional bling

I know... a lot of people have that problem... they just can't sit by and watch when some idiots are talking garbage and others are believing them...
So many just get fed up and leave, after trying to just stay in the more normal section such as the band forums.

The current Pope looks like the Emperor from StarWars Before poking fun at the Catholics, make sure you understand Apostolic Succession. Its rather interesting. I don't agree with a fair few things they do, but I have gorwn to respect the Catholics the more I actually look into what the beleive. We're not allowed to engage in any Catholic bashing here, so just be careful ok.

I am indeed aware of the Popes claim of apostolic succession and how completely and utterly indefensible it is. Though really even if it were true it doesn't matter, since my main reason for not submitting to the Pope is that basically everything he teaches in unbiblical or antibiblical...
(If I posted that on Firestream = instant ban)

since my main reason for not submitting to the Pope is that basically everything he teaches in unbiblical or antibiblical... This is not true. A few of the things he teaches are, but nowhere near all of them. Some are anti biblical, but no more than the Prosperity Gospel and pre-trib rapture, all of which can be Scripturally explained, but to do so a lot of extrapolation needs to take place. Most of the beleifs the Catholics have can be well explained if you find the right person to ask... instead of asking your average Catholic who has just been spoon fed what to belive, instead of actually understanding it. In a way its similar to the Jews in the OT, they had a heap of rules they followed simply because God told them to. Most would have just followed without knowing exactly why (due to lack of scientific and medical knowledge), yet now days we can pin point the exact reason for those more obscure rules. Each and every Catholic teaching has a reason behind it, some Biblical, other traditional. Most traditions started as ways to control the pagan populace, such as teh no-meat-on-friday rules that some still follow.

Sorry I should clarify, I was meaning the teachings of the Pope that are specific to catholicism - the bodily assumption and immaculate conception of Mary, Mary as co-mediator and co-redeemer with Christ, the transubstantiation of the mass, salvation by works etc. Obviously I don't disagree with everything he teaches as obviously Catholicism and Protestantism have lots in common (eg. Trinitarianism).
But...I would like to point out again that the focus of this thread was not catholicism, but the overall stupidness of Firestream (stupidness is not the right word but...well, you know what I'm referring to). If I had logged onto firestream and seen that the current theology topic was 'Polygamy is biblical' or 'evolution and the Bible are compatable' I would have started a similar thread...

Just thought I'd mention here...I was raised Catholic and still go to my local Catholic church for fellowship and worship. I do enjoy the way the Mass is set up and I think very highly on the clergy of my local Diocese. On the other hand I'm VERY critical of the Main Papacy out in Rome and the Political nature in which it has been run and been perverted through mainly Satan's temptation and Humanity's vanity.

I find the main reason people think Catholics are wrong is that they dont understand why we believe what we do. I refuse to participate in any theology discussions on Firestream cos i get way too offended when people talk bad about the catholics just for the sake of it.
And you guys can laugh at what the Pope wears but please dont disrespect him because some of us actually greatly respect his authority. Thats all ill say on the topic.
