Hi All, Well a New Year brings many new things:- - Finally we got Internet Access and a landline... We went for the cheapest slowest Internet Connection available in this part of Japan which is 10Mbs for 2000yen/month!
- We taught our first English Class last Friday
- We started a new church (long story) called "Shining Lights Church"... Look forward to a website in future.
- Updates to my website

2000yen equals about $33 Aussie dollars at todays rate. To put it into better perspective an unskilled worker gets paid 800yen per hour here so that's less than three hours salary for a months internet access. I can get 9000yen per hour English teaching if I fill my class.

Life's suddenly gotten a lot busier! We are learning a English School business so from a friend who is returning to Australia in March. So from March we take over the business, at the moment we are going a long to the classes to learn what to do. Also we now have about 7 private students coming to our house. I start work 2 days a week at a Christian Kindergarten from May and I've been doing some training for that, I also have to prepare my teaching programme before I start. In addition I am preaching every Sunday which requires about 8 hours preparation time, plus 2 hours for Ritsuko to translate.
So far we are just earning a little bit of money from the 7 private students, but things should get better when we take over the business in March and the Kindergarten work starts in May.
BTW the weather has been a little warmer this month getting above 10C most days, 18C is forecast for tomorrow, but a return to cold weather is forecast for next week and perhaps some more snow.

Spring is now upon us and the temperature range is a very comfortable 12C min - 24C max. The Cherry Blossoms have pretty much finished and now the trees a full of leaves again.
If you're not receiving our email newsletter and wish to. Please PM me your email address.
Also on the match making front we now have been asked by a couple of 25YO Christian ladies to introduce them to Christian guys. PM me if you're interested in finding out more.
In preparation for summer we recently upsized our fridge and purchased a second air-conditioner.

Well after just over 6months here, I've finally having my first summer weather since the beginning of 2008 when I was in Australia. Apart from a few warm spells in November and April, an odd warms day in December, February and March, 95% of the time here has been pretty cold and wintery.
Well now the weather has finally kicked into summer mode and we're experiencing Max 30C days and 18C nights, 76% humidity in the mornings, drying out to about 38% by the evening. May is probably the best month weather wise until October I hear from the locals. I heard in June the humidity seldom drops below 90%, even the carpet will feel damp. In preparation for that. We've got a dehumidifier for the house and a dry box for the camera gear, high humidity can cause fungus to grow on your lenses!
Tomorrow is my first day of working at Megumi (Grace) Kindergarten as an English Teacher, although I did some training there in January/February with the previous teacher before she went back to Australia. The English programme at the Kindergarten runs from May to January (sometimes to February), and there's a month off in August for the summer vacation. The school year for the Kindergarten runs from April to March, but they're a too busy preparing for plays in February and March, and then with the enrolment programme in April.
A friend of mine is getting married in Perth next February so perhaps Ritz and I will come back for a visit, although the problem is here, I just can't get my sister to house sit and look after the cats!

Christmas service and after party went well at church today. Christmas day is not a public holiday here, so Christmas services are normally held on the nearest Sunday prior to Christmas. Max 8 (today) Currently 5C, forecast min -2C. Forecast our first snow (for this season) at low altitude for early hours of tomorrow morning. Got the camera ready.
