Greetings all! It has been quite a while since I visited last-as Mercury! As some of you may be aware, Fearscape has retired (in a Paramaecium kind of way). Phil and I have since formed a new project called WAR DECISIVE. Now War Decisive is a thrash metal project with death and a dash of black metal leanings. So, seeing as Phil and I were sitting at the top of the small Australian Christian metal pyramid and are now at the bottom- we realise that Grave Forsaken are now the 'old dogs' and we have to give chase Therefore a 'challenge' or 'arms race' is in order. Grave are way ahead with several albums and WD are just starting-so a public pole should be declared for who takes the title of the best new christian thrash album to come from Australia. Winner takes all............... Matt War Decisive Post Script Phil and I will be working hard on several songs on Friday after a few months off due to work/uni etc.

Hey Mercury, nice to hear you're making music again. Sorry to hear about Fearscapre, you really had something going with the Scent of Divine Blood album. Has Rose of Sharon been put on the back burner too now?
Thrash is having a real resurgence here in Perth, a new thrash bands pops up every few months. What's it like over in NSW? We don't often hear much about the scene in the eastern state, which is a shame.
Looking forward to hearing what you and Phil come up with! Hopefully be able to see you play it live sometime too; thrash is all about raw live energy!

G'day Rowland, long time no hear.
Yeah Scent was special, though to be perfectly honest the real chemistry and magic happened when we wrote Sleeping in Light. It had its weaknesses but it was a lot more real (especially to me and phil as we wrote about 90% of the album and it was our first real attempt).
War Decisive kind of takes of where sleeping left of-though we have had 7 years worth of experience and improvement to pour into it.
We have been having a lot of fun with it and to be frank, it is a lot more 'honest' than FS. FS had to scrape and grind its way into a rapidly changing music scene (technology, sounds etc) and never really had the time to develop naturally.
Phil has been studying music at University as well as sound production and engineering-and he is really really good at it (topping his class in production and composition). If you thought he was a good bas player before, well you should see him now! He has become a monster!
We are taking our leanings from Coroner, Death Angel, Slayer, Kreator, early Metallica, Anthrax, Immortal and Believer.
Both of us want to come back to the live arena, however this won't happen until we are happy with finished material and recruited the right people.
As far as the NSW scene-I have no idea. I have not been 'in the scene' for 2 years and it has been quite refreshing.
Who are the best bands over your way?

Had a great session yesterday. Phil and i will be doing more work on Tuesday. Currently we are working on using pro tools to develop drum lines to carry the tracks as a rough demo guide. I may put something up on myspace if people are interested-though it is way way way rough. I forgot to mention that two other major influences are Sepultura and W.A.S.P. keep watching www.myspace.com/wardecisive

A myspace track would be great.
Is there any chance War Decisive can use any of the old Dei Elithian material?

I wish Aceman. I have all the finished tracks and they are killer. Allan pulled the plug after some odd experience with a well know christian metal guitarist who had agreed to participate in DE and then very mysteriously quit. I think it really crushed Allan as he had put a lot of time and hope in it.
Rest assurd War Decisive will knock your socks off!
This is the most fun Phil and I have had in 10 years with Metal. We are bathing in 'Arise' by Sepultura, Kreator, Nuclear Assault etc etc
Good times.
I am hoping to have a sample or two up tomorrow or Wednesday depending on what we achieve Tomorrow.

That's funny, I replied to this topic but my reply isn't here? Anyway, I'm stoked to hear there is new material coming. Just a question - did you ever consider keeping the Fearscape name? Or do you see that as a separate project? Just asking cause I'm sure it will sound a lot like Fearscape when it's done (that's a good thing). I kinda miss the old Grave/Fearscape brother band thing we had going on!

War Decisive is a new band and it shouldn't really sound like FS at all (though there will be some familiarities due to the fact that Phil and I are writing it) Here is an extremely rough draft of ideas: www.myspace.com/wardecisiveYes I miss the brotherhood, but we will rebuild it and it will be better.

I really hope we can do more festival shows in the future. Those have been some of my best memories.

I've heard cornerstone have hit financial problems. I hope they can continue to remain viable in the future, because when all our kids are a bit older it would be great to play there. Would have to play some extra US shows to make it worth the trip, but I'm sure something could be arranged.

And I'm sure that some additional shows could be arranged here in the states.
