Have you guys noticed that over the past few years in several genres of metal (particularly classic/traditional metal I have noticed, but also thrash and death metal) that there has been an increasingly large number of bands adopting a more old-school, 80s/early 90s sound in their music? And not just joke bands like Steel Panther - it ranges from merely showing a large level of influence of classic material in their music, through to sounding like they could easily have been the opening act for Motley Crue back in '84.
I for one LOVE old-school metal in all its forms so I wish this new trend nothing but success. With that in mind I have attached youtube videos of two of my favourites
1) Battle Beast. With a name like that and their first album (released just a few months ago) named 'Steel', you can sorta guess that these guys play epic 80s classic metal so cheesy and over-the-top that Spinal Tap would ask them to tone it down slightly. Naturally I love it ;D. Plus their lead singer is the only lady I have EVER heard singing to music like this, and she is absolutely amazing
2) Steelwing. The modern production value is the one and only thing that would make you believe that this isn't actually a lost recording from a previously unknown NWOBHM band from the early-mid 80s. There is something awesome about a bunch of kids worshipping a style of music that went out of fashion before they were born.

I'm sorry, but did you just insinuate that Steel Panther aren't a serious band?

Hahaha, the song "Eatin' ain't cheatin'" sort of gave it away.

Yes, there has been a bit of resurgence in non-core, which is always a good thing
