Impending Doom-The Sin and Doom of Godless Men Released-2005 Label-None Style-Death Metal-Grindcore "No man fears to kneel before the God he trusts, without faith without belief in something what are we?" Once these lines are spoken everything erupts into pure madness. Super fast drumming, guitars heavier than a sack of bricks on your chest underwater, and brutal gurgling squealing vocals on top of everything. Thats right, your listening to Impending Doom's debut demo CD. Impending Doom is a Christian death metal/grindcore band who describe themselves "true gorship." I'm not really sure what that means, but Ill tell you this is a fantastic five song demo. The band has done their grindcore homework with loads and I mean loads of blast beats and pig squeals. Some may be turned off by this but I feel that it adds to the extreme feel of the CD, but its not all squealing as there are plenty of guttural death vocals to be had. The production is actually quite good for a demo CD and for a band as extreme as Impending Doom. The only thing that brings this down is the drum sound, the snare is just too loud and tinny sounding, it detracts from the overall experience. The lyrics are a true shining point of this band as you would expect them to sing only about gore and death, the lyrics are actually quite relevant and focus on Christ's sacrifice, but also has themes of judgment and retribution for sin. Overall this is a great first demo for a band although I would recommend the bands full length album Nailed.Dead.Risen over this as it has better production and a much better drum sound.
