Just thought I'd start posting a bit of info about somgs of the next album "This Day Forth". The likely opening track is a tune called No News...Ain't Good News". This one has an 80's thrash vibe to it. The song was inspired by bands like Anthrax and Megadeth, and I think it's the closest we've ever come to capturing that vibe.
I wrote the music, while lyrics were handled by Tim. The song talks about the way world events come to us through a media filter. Depending on the agenda of the day, news stories are often spun to play on our fears and sell newspapers. It's a well known fact that the media does this.
The song talks about many of the issues we have faced this decade, and then puts them into the perspective of eternity. We spend so much time focusing on the here and now, that as indivduals we often forget eternity. The second half of the song talks about the flow of news stopping once you die. None of this worldly stuff matters anymore. The problem for many of us is that once this flow of news ceases, so to does the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus, hence the title.
Essentially the song is a reminder to people to not get caught up in the world. In a media saturated society, it's important that the gospel is heard through all the messages that come our way.
Musically the song ends with what I hope will become a well loved sing along gang vocal outro. You'll have to wait to hear it, but hopefully it make you feel warm and fuzzy!
