This is always a fun topic. Ill be the first to say that i am not perfect in this respect, but do you think that Christians should use curse words even in the presence of those who are unoffended? Just something ive been struggling with and wanted your guys opinions on the matter.

Hahah yes, this topic is right up there with "Should Christians listen to secular music" in terms of getting people riled up.
Personally, I don't swear often, it's only in rare periods of extreme anger or frustration, when I need a stronger word. In regular conversation, I feel such words aren't needed, and just plain don't like using them. They don't offend me, but I don't see the point of them in day to day conversation.
As for the Bible verses that point at watching what you say, I see them as being more about the intention behind the words rather than the actual words themselves. Sure, some words are sound crass and vulgar, but there are situations where they get used in non-offensive manners. The Australian metal scene is a very good (or bad) example of this, where calling someone a "f***ing mad c**t" is a compliment. The words are vulgar, but the intention is amicable. However, if the person saying such things was a Christian, I'd question the example they were setting, especially in a scene where perceived hypocrisy is jumped upon.

I have to agree with Rowland on this one. What really matters is the heart. But we as Christians do have to make sure we aren't seen or perceived as being hypocritical.

yeah that is the hard part really. I grew up in a scene where such language was not often criticized, it wasnt until people starting calling me out on it that I realized what Id been doing something that people saw as hypocritical

It's all context I reckon. I don't swear too much, but sometimes it's socially awkward not to swear. You can appear more human to people if you drop the odd swear word. When I didn't swear at all, people used to modify their behaviour around me, and I think it resulted in me not being invited to social events. Not cause I was unpopular, but rather people felt they couldn't relax around me.
