Although last year I upgraded to one of the most awesome digital SLRs (the Nikon D700), I still dabble with film from time to time. See jamri.smugmug.com/keyword/film for some examples of my film work. While digital is faster, more convenient, and if you a have good digital SLR much better shooting high ISO that film. Film still wins in certain situations, such as high dynamic range (although you can do tricks with digital to replicate that) and the colour palette of Fujichrome Velvia film no digital camera can match. Film also wins for resolution (if you have good film scanner), especially if you shoot medium or large format film, but even 35mm film resolution is about 20MP. On Monday I'll be revealing some new on my gallery done in film, which is not about getting a better image technically about digital, but going back to basics to try to improve my art. Stay tuned.

Started posting a couple of images from my summer B&W project. Shot on B&W film, Nikon F80 Camera, 50f/1.8 lens (simplest), Orange Filter (darkens blues a bit for better skies) and using Fujifilm Neopan Acros B&W film (which is the cheapest film I can find here at 440yen for 36 exposures). jamri.smugmug.com/Other/My-New-Life/9777122_kcxTU#1399678226_j6sZsBS

James! Great to hear from you. I've often wondered what you'd been up to. How's are things in Japan?
