okay, so I just finished making a pizza for breakfast--yes for breakfast--when I decided to read the newspaper. The comics were open in front of me and I thought it would be fun and safe to read. Have you ever heard of Pearls Be For Swine? Even the name is questionable but they were making fun of Family Circus which would be all fun and in good humer if they weren't making fun of the writer's Christian values and obvious morals saying that the family depicted is "out of touch" and from decades past. I don't know about you but I still have morals and would appreciate it if people would deal with the fact that morals aren't a bad thing. So I flip to a new section and there is a whole big article on "Queer eye" and all the other programs being launched because of it. It makes me sick.

Nobody seems willing to support anyone else in their moral standings anymore. I decided not to watch R-rated movies anymore which is already really hard for my because...I like them. I'm not trying to act better than anyone else I just know that movies bring me down because I watch them a lot. Anyway, people keep saying, "This one shouldn't even be rated R, There's nothing in it. Christians too! Don't bring other people down. Show support because in this world you don't get a lot as it is.

Not just the newspaper today... I was over at a friend's house and the news was on. They found this T-rex that was 60 MILLION years old, the biggest found in one piece yadda yadda yadda. They called it Lucy even though they didn't know what sex it actually was. After the report the anchorman said if they don't know whether it's a boy or a girl how do they know how old it is. The co-anchor said, "You're looking too much into it." That makes me so mad! Doesn't that man have a valid point that people should ask questions instead of brainwashingly accepting everything that is told to us as "news updates" and "science."
Sorry about all the posts. These things all just jumped down my throat today and I thought I'd cough them back up to you all.

morals and honour seem to have no bearing in society today, to me, it appears as if two major things are happening with our American society as a whole....the complete and willing neglect of the self (at any cost) (read: selfishness to the Nth degree) and the complete moral decay of our society which can be seen at every turn. Patience is a virtue but hwere is it on the road? road rage is an impatient person becoming enraged with other people...people, for the most part have been desensitized into believing that they are on a time frame and everything is catered to them at their whim......jsut where and when did this happen? good question, i don't have the answer to that but I will say this....it's only going to get worse as the USA continues to become what i feel is the new Babylon.

We could have another resurgence of morals. Back in the '70s censorship was nearly nonexistent, as PG movies had a lot of cussing and R-rated movies had enough nudity to qualify for an X rating.
We've gotten better, I think. On a larger scale, though, we've gotten way worse--killing babies, compromising the definition of marriage, releasing sin-worshiping movies like "Sin City". With a little luck, the Assyrians will come and beat us up a little and make us turn back to God like they did to Jerusalem.

Have you guys ever read Mind Siege by Tim Lahaye. You're pracically quoting the book. It's an interesting read although I don't agree with EVERYTHING he says.

Shattered Light, i have been known to rant and rave about this sort of thing for hours on end. It becomes very hard to let it go, yet I came to a revelation this week at Cornerstone. I was watching the band Crimson Thorn, and Luke Renno their singer, got up and told us that we needed to read our bibles more because Christians do not know thier bibles well anymore, we just go to church, and listen to our pastor, very few Christians know the bible like they should. Well, my train of thought went to how there are some many denominations who all beleive very different things and they teach that doctrine whether its biblical or not. Then i started thinking about the homosexual movement, and how they ignore things in the bible that openly call them to repentance from their alternative lifestyles. It then occured to me that the reason people beleive in Evolution and things like that is because its what THEY WANT to beleive. It sounds so simple, yet it causes a huge problem. The biggest problem with our consumer driven capitalist society is that we are so used to always picking out what we want so we can consume it and it bring us pleasure, that we never think about what we are obligated to do, what is expected of us. Instead of embracing Christ and receiving happyness through obediance we will reject it because it gets in the way of what we "want" to do whatever makes "us" happy. So people will continue to embrace lies so that they are able to make themselves happy, its essentially social masturbation on a nationwide scale. All we focus on is self pleasure. All we can do is pray and try to open thier eyes.

I'm a history buff, I can see a pattern in all ages. That pattern is man's folly. It's true there can be moral ups and downs, but it all comes down to what the individual believes. As individuals, we're taught to be selfish and materialistic. That is the religion of America. I'm taught by my professors to have a critical mind, but when I question the oppinions of the moment, they aren't open minded. This is nothing to get upset about, but should motivate you to increase your learning, especially that of scripture. The one thing that has never been taken up by any society is straight, scriptural Christianity. Thats the way it will be until the world's end. We don't have to worry about society or trends or patterns though, go out and speak the truth. Finding wisdom or salvation together with just one person is worth that.

I happen to own that book, but Dan has it at the moment. The story at the beginning of the book scared me because it seems very possible, doesn't it?

Too possible. I already know some people who act like that. They're embarrassed to be seen doing the right thing; it's sad. I hope more people stand up for what they believe. Like he says, a lot of people in the U.S. have these morals and whatnot; people are just lazy and don't like to find out what's going on. People think they're invincible until something happens to them. I didn't agree with an unnecessary comment LaHaye made. He was naming things wrong with entertainment (homosexuality, sex everywhere, cussing) and he said that you can't even recognize art anymore. I realize he probably ment that art was becoming crude but it made me a little frustrated because just because something isn't da Vinci doesn't make it bad. A lot of really good art is unrecognizable. He probably didn't mean it though so I'll forgive him. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Guilty as charged, I like Jackson Pollock. Non-objective paint splatters all the way!

I like Chagall! woo! But, yes, entertainment is getting very yucky and its hard to tell what is acceptable to watch anymore, some PG-13s shoud be Rs because of nudity. Seriously, I'm really tired of seeing peoples naked bodies. Come on, just everyone keep your clothes on and we will all be happy.

These people pull sex scenes out of thin air sometimes. It's dumb.
