lest we forget.. Dark Metal - exactly musically like black metal only the lyrics are not always about satanism or hating christians and Forest/Fantasy metal - like death or black but focuses lyrically on fantasy tales like the hobbit stuff like that Your definition of Dark metal is wrong. Dark metal is a mix of Black metal and Gothic. Forest metal, I've only seen that used with Mordecai, which was Melodic Death metal. Nonexistant name for me anyway. Also, doesn't Fantasy metal often have Folk metal influences? I don't listen it, so I'm not too sure.

hmm, never heard of Dark Metal or Forest/Fantasy Metal. I would probably lump it into the Black Metal catagory and save myself some headaches.

Dark metal is indeed often simply described as Black metal. Examples are Bleakwail and Slechtvalk (Slechtvalk more leaning towards Black metal).
It's just another word, also sometimes used by christian Black metal bands to not get the whole discussion of "Black metal can't be christian!". I rarely use it as a description, if ever

So just what is the make-up of Folk-Metal? Folk influences (flute, violins, whatever) mixed with Death/Black metal.

So no folk structures in the metal then? Just the instruments?

You can't forget: Industrial- metal with a blending of dance-like beats and sounds with synth and other effects. Goth metal- more of a dark vibe and haunting sound. Vocals often include harsh gutteral rasps, semi-operatic singing as well as speaking!

According to the 196 rules of DOOM Metal Todd, you must now do unspeakably painful things to their groins.

You can't forget: Industrial- metal with a blending of dance-like beats and sounds with synth and other effects. Industrial is not even as metal as Hardcore. It's seen as one of the extreme genres, but it's definitaly not metal.
